A Note From Our Chairman

The Taste of One Extraordinary Moment

This rare, seasonal tea greets the taster with the aroma of wintergreen, evolving into mint, oak and cedar, edged with honey.

Infused in spring water at 88°C, it reveals a golden amber liquor and an infusion with ten shades of warmth, from golden khaki through ochre and tan to copper and, at last, terracotta. Carried on a fragrance of eucalyptus, mint and honey, the palette underlines the singular character of this tea and the history behind it.

This handpicked Broken Orange Pekoe translates the dry, desiccating winds that sweep the eastern slopes of Sri Lanka's Uva region, at one fleeting time of year, into an aroma, flavour and texture found nowhere else. It introduces itself with wintergreen, blossoming into floral, honeyed and minty accents. The bright amber liquor is marked by a modest astringency and a richness of texture - full of contrast, with depth and substance held in a light, snappy personality. It insists on being savoured: a rewarding, elegant mouthfeel and a swiftly tapering finish.

Uva

Aislaby Estate was first planted in 1920 and remains one of the treasured tea gardens of the Uva Province.

Its tea grows at elevations of approximately 1,000 to 1,200 metres, surrounded by montane and cloud forest. Wild orchids and rare mosses grow here alongside endemic and migratory birds, purple-faced langurs, sambar and leopard, while streams sustain remarkable endemic fish.

This living landscape surrounds the estate and forms part of the remarkable sense of place expressed by Aislaby.

Together with Uva’s mineral-rich soils, elevation and distinctive seasonal winds, it provides the setting for a phenomenon that appears only briefly.

The living terroir of Aislaby made this tea. Not us. Nature.

Our Previous Seasonal Flushes

No two Seasonal Flush releases are ever identical.

Each records a particular convergence of estate, elevation, weather, season and craftsmanship, preserving an expression that may never occur in exactly the same way again.

Over time, each release becomes another chapter in a growing collection of extraordinary moments in Ceylon Tea.

The collection grows. The teas never return. And we do not know where the next one will come from.

Another estate. Another region. Another season.

The next Seasonal Flush has no address yet.
